SiteScore has been collecting data on affiliate marketing networks since early 2021.
Top players have grown over time, we’ve tracked growth of all providers in the space so far with Awin, SkimLinks, Rakuten, Refersion, Shareasale and ValueCommerce all leading the pack among our dataset of the top 1M sites on the web.
But, one vendor rules them all - Awin. Awin purchased ShareASale in 2017, and it likely isn’t a coincidence those two brands are the fastest growers in our dataset over the last 12 months.
Taking growth in SiteScore’s index over time into account - Awin and Shareasale have dominated the competition.
Take a look at some growth rates seen among those top five affiliate platforms over the last 12 months (since Jan 2022).
Platform | January 2022 | January 2023 | January 2024 | 2-year Growth Rate | 1-year Growth Rate |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Awin | 4032 | 6440 | 7780 | 93% | 21% |
SkimLinks | 2192 | 3057 | 3305 | 51% | 8% |
Rakuten | 1983 | 2092 | 2097 | 6% | 0% |
Refersion | 1680 | 1971 | 2026 | 21% | 3% |
Shareasale | 644 | 1401 | 1985 | 208% | 42% |
ValueCommerce | 462 | 1167 | 1308 | 183% | 12% |
It is important to note that SiteScore’s data set is not comprehensive, we focus primarily on home page and top page utilization of these networks among the top 1m sites on the web. Awin’s LinkedIn company page states 211,000 publishers globally on Awin alone, and their company overview page (which includes ShareASale) claims 1m global publishers. Together, SiteScore has detected Awin and ShareASale code on about 10,000 of the top 1 million sites, as SiteScore focuses mainly on home page and major page adoption of each Affiliate platform’s code, but the growth numbers are impressive nonetheless.
Kudos to the team at Awin and ShareASale, impressive performance and clearly operating as a category killer in this space.
